I have not posted for a few days, because we had no wifi and we have been so tired.  I will explain this more when I go back and finish the previous days post. Today was so full that I knew if I did not write something tonight, I would miss some of the experiences. Our days are so long and so full that I cannot possibly describe everything and so I think it best to hit the highlights and try to describe some of my feeling.

Last night I hardly slept.  There are very few places to stay where we are and we ended up at Tara Lodge.  There is a small lodge with 3 twin rooms, and then two small cottages.   All these were full and so Kate and I are glamping.  Which means we are staying in a tent with a carpet on the floor and beds and nice linens.  Our host tells us this is better energetically.  When you open the flaps to our tent you see the animals in the pasture about 30 feet away.  There are donkeys and minature horses.  Everything is beautiful and peaceful.  The food for breakfast is organic and wholesome.  Reverance for the land is noteable.  The host gave people footbaths with Epson Salts and oils our first night.

The day began with the oppotunity to go into a local artists store.  There were beautiful prints of local saints, gods and goddesses along with stones, dream catchers, candles.  Within a painting was a relic of Brigid.  To be on pilgrimage, is to see, to touch a relic.  Today I did.

We then climbed the Hill of Tara.  Tara is know for earlier Gods as an ancestrial burial sight.  The feeling of climbing the hill was a bit overwhelming.  I found myself full of emotion thinking about this area as the sacred ground of my ancesters.  Upon reaching the top of the hill we met a wonderful woman who is a druid.  She led us in an ancient blessing and thanksgiving ceremony.  Within the ceremony she called to the wind the earrh, the air and water to be with us.  She blessed us with oil made from local plants.  This woman had such a beautiful spirit and her blessing was very touching.  We then went to a Fairy Tree, where we learned about the little people and their history in Ireland.  We learned that they can be mishcevious, but that when they are it is often to teach us something.  We then went to the hight part of the mountain and learned about the early chieftain, the queen and the daughter who were buried here and the legends that are told of these three.

We then left Tara and walked to a Catholic church where we saw beautiful stained glass windows of Brigid and Patrick, followed by a picnic lunch on the grounds.

Then it was a 9 kilometer walk to a pub, where we all enjoyed refreshment and much laughter and singing, followed by being picked up and taken to Tara Lodge where we are staying.  In all, we walked about 10 miles today.

Upon arriving at Tara Lodge we shared a lovely catered vegetarian dinner, followed by a local man who had gathered reeds and taughts us all how to make Brigid crosses.  He then read us some poetry he had written about Brigid.  As we sat in a circle, a huge fire was built.  We were then treated with story telling and information by a local author who has discovered a Stonehenge in Ireland.  He talked about the significance of it and other sacred sights that are being mapped and rediscovered.  This was then followed by an opportunity to buy his book and a book signing.

When all was picked up and books signed it was after 10 and it is time for bed. So much was said and so much was experienced that I have not had time to process it all.  But the main take away is from the blessing given to me by Arnette, the druid, she said " as you go from here, as you are filled with inspiration, share what you have learned and discovered".

Prayer

God of our ancesstors, sacred divine, male and female, open my eyes to my own call.  Help me to more fully live your call to me and help me to reach out to others and support them in their own sacred callings.  Fill us all with  love and your peace, so that we care for not only ourselves but for the needs of our families, friends and communities. Help me to let go of what is no longer needed, open to what may be and help me to see with new eyes all that is possible.  May it be so. Amen
